Terms of use
Version 1.1, effective 22 October 2026. Changed from version 1.0: a R1,000 limit on our total liability (clause 12.3).
The agreement between you and MFH Technologies (Pty) Ltd for using DalaDish during its private family test.
IMPORTANT: please read this first
These terms contain clauses that limit our liability, place certain risks on you and record facts you acknowledge. As section 49 of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 requires, we draw your attention to them here. Each one is marked IMPORTANT below.
- DalaDish is a test version. It may have errors, change, stop working or lose information (clause 3).
- Prices are indicative. The till price applies, and we are not responsible if a price, special or product at a store differs from DalaDish (clause 7).
- Allergies and health. DalaDish cannot guarantee that food is free of an allergen and is not medical or dietary advice. Always read the label of every product. You accept the risk of relying on DalaDish for these matters (clause 8).
- Alcohol is for adults only (clause 9).
- Our liability is limited to the extent the law allows, and in total to R1,000 (clause 12).
When you tick "I have read the Terms and the Privacy notice" in the app, you confirm that you have read and understood these clauses and agree to them. If anything is unclear, ask us before you agree.

2. These terms
- These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the agreement between you and MFH for using DalaDish. You accept them when you tick "I have read the Terms and the Privacy notice" in the app.
- You must be 18 or older to create an account.
- Each adult creates their own account and accepts these terms for themselves. Nobody can accept them on someone else's behalf.
- If you do not agree, please do not use DalaDish.
3. The test version
IMPORTANT: this clause records facts you acknowledge about the test.
- DalaDish is in a private family test, by invitation. The app you use is a test version.
- Things will change. We may add, change or remove features, recipes, screens and prices at any time.
- Some things may not work properly or may be unavailable at times and, despite our care, information you entered may be lost. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot do without, such as your own recipes.
- We will ask what you think. Giving feedback is up to you.
- You may leave the test at any time by deleting your account.
- We may end the test, or replace it with a public version under new terms. Where we reasonably can, we will give you at least 14 days' notice by email.
4. Your account
- You sign in with your email address and a one-time code that we email to you. Signing in with Apple, Google or your cell number will follow, and will link to the same account.
- Anyone who can read your email can sign in as you, so keep your email account safe. If you think someone else has used your DalaDish account, tell us straight away at support@daladish.co.za.
- One person, one account. Give true information. A first name or a nickname is enough.
- You are responsible for what is done through your account, unless it happens because of our failure.
5. Households and family codes
- The adult who sets up a household is its owner. The owner sets the household's details and food choices, and makes family codes.
- A family code works once. It stops working after 3 days, or when the owner makes a new one. Share it only with an adult you live or plan meals with.
- Using a code does not give access straight away. The owner must first tap Let them in in Me, and may instead tap Turn away.
- Everyone in a household sees the household's details, food choices (including allergies and a religious diet), plan, own recipes and food photos, and each member's first name, ratings and favourites. Your daily targets and privacy choices stay private.
- Add a child's first name only if you are that child's parent or guardian. Do not add another adult's details: invite them to create their own account instead.
- If the owner deletes their account, the adult who joined the household first becomes its owner. When the last person deletes their account, the household and everything in it is deleted.
6. Using DalaDish fairly
You may use DalaDish for your own and your household's meal planning. You may not:
- use it for a business or commercial purpose, or resell it;
- copy, scrape or extract recipes, prices, photos or other content in bulk, or use bots or other automated tools on the app or our systems;
- try to reach another person's account or household, get around our security, or test it for weaknesses without our written permission. If you find a weakness, please tell us at privacy@daladish.co.za;
- reverse engineer, decompile or change the app, except where the law allows it;
- upload anything unlawful, harmful or offensive, anything that belongs to someone else, or photos of people. Food photos are for food;
- overload our systems or interfere with other people's use of DalaDish; or
- pretend to be someone else.
We may remove content, and suspend or close accounts, that break these rules (clause 13).
7. Prices and shopping
IMPORTANT: this clause limits our responsibility for prices.
- Prices in DalaDish are read from retailers' public websites on the date shown with them. They are indicative only.
- Prices, specials and stock change, and may differ between stores, and between a retailer's website and its shops. The price at the till or checkout always applies. A weekly total in DalaDish adds up these indicative prices and is a guide to your spending, not a quote.
- DalaDish does not sell anything. When you follow a link to a retailer's website, or buy anything, you deal with that retailer under its own terms.
- DalaDish is independent. It is not linked to, endorsed by or sponsored by any supermarket or retailer. We name a retailer only to say where a price comes from or where a link goes. Retailers' names and trade marks belong to their owners.
- We are not responsible for any retailer's prices, products, stock, service or website.
8. Food, allergies and health
IMPORTANT: this clause tells you about a risk of illness or injury, and you accept that risk to the extent the law allows.
- DalaDish gives general meal ideas, recipes and shopping lists. It is not medical, dietary or nutritional advice, and it does not replace a doctor or a registered dietitian. Speak to one if you, or anyone you cook for, has a medical condition, is pregnant, or needs a special diet.
- Allergy filtering depends on product and recipe information that may be incomplete, out of date or wrong, and manufacturers change their recipes. DalaDish cannot guarantee that a recipe or product is free of any allergen.
- Always read the label of every product you buy, every time, and check every ingredient before you cook or serve it. If anyone you cook for has a severe allergy, do not rely on DalaDish to keep them safe.
- Halaal and kosher choices leave out pork and, for kosher, meat with dairy in one dish. DalaDish does not certify any food. Buy certified products where that matters to you.
- Nutrition figures, where DalaDish shows them, are approximate.
- Store, cook and reheat food safely. Cooking times are a guide.
- To the extent the law allows, you accept the risk of relying on DalaDish for these matters.
9. Alcohol
- Alcohol is not for sale to persons under the age of 18. Drinks with alcohol are for adults only.
- DalaDish shows drinks with alcohol only after you confirm on your phone that you are 18 or older, and only where you choose to include them. They never appear for halaal households or children's parties.
- Serve alcohol only to guests aged 18 or older. Drink responsibly, and never drink and drive.
- DalaDish does not sell alcohol. A link to buy it opens the retailer's website, where the retailer's own age checks and rules apply.
10. Your content
- You keep ownership of what you add: your own recipes, photos, names, ratings and feedback.
- You give MFH a free, non-exclusive licence to store, copy, process and show it to you and your household, only to run DalaDish. The licence ends when your content is deleted, apart from backups, which roll off within 7 days.
- If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them freely to improve DalaDish, without paying you or naming you.
- You confirm that you have the right to add what you add, and that your photos are of food, not of people.
11. Our intellectual property
- The DalaDish name and logo, the app and its software, design, recipes, text and dish photos belong to MFH Technologies (Pty) Ltd or its licensors.
- During the test we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence, which we may withdraw, to install and use the app on your own devices for your household. You may not copy, sell, rent or distribute it.
- Some parts of DalaDish are open-source software used under their own licences. Nutrition values, where DalaDish shows them, come from tempo-food-db, used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence (CC BY 4.0).
- Retailers' and other third parties' names and trade marks belong to their owners.
12. Limitation of liability
IMPORTANT: this clause limits our liability. Please read it carefully.
12.1 DalaDish is a free test version, provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we give no guarantee that it will always be available, free of errors, accurate or suited to your needs.
12.2 To the extent the law allows, MFH Technologies (Pty) Ltd, its director and the people who work on DalaDish are not liable for any loss, damage, injury or illness that arises from:
- a price, special, product or stock level at a store that differs from what DalaDish shows;
- an allergic reaction or other health effect caused by an ingredient or product that you did not check on its label, or by relying on DalaDish instead of medical advice;
- information that is lost, or the app not working, during the test;
- a website, app or retailer that DalaDish links to;
- someone else using your account because they could read your email; or
- indirect or consequential loss, such as loss of income.
12.3 To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for all claims together that arise from DalaDish or these terms is limited to R1,000.
12.4 Nothing in these terms, including the limit in clause 12.3, limits our liability for loss caused by our gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or takes away any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or any other law that cannot be limited.
13. Ending your use
- You may stop using DalaDish at any time and delete your account in Me, then Delete my account. See Delete your DalaDish account.
- We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or to protect other people or DalaDish. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you first and give you a chance to put things right.
- We may end the test as clause 3 sets out.
- When your account closes or the test ends, we delete your information as our Privacy Policy describes.
- Clauses 7, 8, 10, 11, 12 and 15 continue to apply after your use ends.
14. Changes to these terms
- We may change these terms, for example when features are added or when the test ends. The version and date at the top show which version applies.
- We will tell you in the app or by email at least 14 days before a change that matters takes effect, unless the law or a security risk requires it sooner.
- If you do not agree with a change, you may stop using DalaDish and delete your account. If you keep using DalaDish after the change takes effect, the new terms apply. Where the law requires your fresh consent, we will ask for it.
15. Law and disputes
- South African law governs these terms.
- If something goes wrong, please contact us first at fanie@daladish.co.za. We will try to resolve it within 20 business days.
- If we cannot resolve it, you may refer it to the National Consumer Commission, the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud, or a South African court that has jurisdiction. Privacy complaints may also go to the Information Regulator, as our Privacy Policy explains.
16. General
- These terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and MFH about the test.
- If a court finds any part of these terms invalid, the rest stays in force.
- If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not given it up.
- You may not transfer your account or these terms to anyone else. We may transfer our rights and duties under these terms to a new owner of DalaDish; your rights stay the same.
- We send notices to the email address on your account. You may send notices to fanie@daladish.co.za, and serve legal documents at our physical address in clause 1.
- Apple and Google are not parties to these terms and are not responsible for DalaDish or its support. If you install DalaDish from Apple's App Store, Apple's standard licence agreement for apps applies as well.
