Answers to the questions families ask most. Still stuck? Email support@daladish.co.za.
What is the DalaDish test?
DalaDish is in a private family test. You are using a test version: things will change, a few may break, and we'll ask what you think.
To report a problem or share an idea, email support@daladish.co.za. A screenshot helps.
Is DalaDish free?
Yes. There is no paywall, nothing to buy in the app and no adverts.
How do I sign in?
Type your email address and tap Email me a code. Type the code from our email, or tap the link in the email on the same phone. There is no password to remember, and the same email works on any phone.
Signing in with Apple, Google or your cell number is coming, and will link to the same account.
The sign-in email hasn't arrived
Check your spam or promotions folder for an email from DalaDish (signin@mail.daladish.co.za). Wait a minute, then tap Send a new code, and use the code in the newest email. Check that the email address is spelt correctly, or tap Use a different email.
How do we plan together as a family?
The person who set up the household opens Me and taps Make a family code. The code works once and expires after three days.
The other adult installs DalaDish, chooses I have a family code, signs in with their own email and types the code. The person who set up the household then taps Let them in in Me.
Each adult has their own account and their own ratings and favourites, and you share one plan and one shopping list.
Which shop's prices does it use?
During the test, DalaDish uses Checkers prices, read from the public checkers.co.za website, and shows the date we read them. Prices and specials change, so the till price always applies.
DalaDish is independent and not linked to any supermarket.
How do allergies work?
Choose any of 12 common allergens: peanuts, tree nuts, milk, eggs, gluten, fish, shellfish, soya, sesame, mustard, celery and sulphites. DalaDish leaves out the recipes and products that contain them, including products that often contain them, like sesame on burger buns. You can also choose foods you'd rather not eat.
Allergies are health information, so DalaDish asks for your consent before it keeps them, and uses them only to plan your meals. Always check the label before you buy or cook.
Can it plan halaal, kosher or no-pork meals?
Yes. Choose it under Diet when you set up your household. Because this choice can show a religious belief, DalaDish asks for your consent before it keeps it. DalaDish does not certify food, so buy certified products where that matters to you.
Does it work for one person?
Yes. Set the household to one adult and the quantities, costs and list follow. It works just as well for a couple or a big family.
What happens to my data?
We use it only to plan your meals and shopping list. It is stored in Frankfurt, Germany, in the European Union, it is never sold and it is never used for adverts. You choose what we keep about allergies, daily targets, a religious diet and children in Me, then Your privacy choices.
The full detail, including the service providers we use, is in our Privacy Policy.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, tap Me, then Delete my account at the bottom of the page. Or follow the steps on Delete your DalaDish account.
How do I reach you?
Email support@daladish.co.za and we'll usually get back to you within two working days.
